Product Review: The Herbal Horse USA Heal Quick

In the recent years I have been much more aware of what I am purchasing when buying products for the horses as well as myself. I have never been one to purposely shop organic nor have I searched ingredients lists, but I do strive to use more natural concoctions as opposed to those that are full of chemicals. So when I found The Herbal Horse USA  on social media, I thought that it was something that I would be interested in. All of Helen and THH’s products are “organic, 100% pure grooming and care products for horses, dogs & people” and are handmade with quality ingredients and essential oils, who wouldn’t want that on their horse?!

Helen was generous enough to send me along a few products to review and something special for my readers. This is the first of three THH reviews, so stay tuned for something special at the end of the fourth and final post!

One of the first products I tried out was The Herbal Horse USA Heal Quick. This is a healing salve that has a lovely list of attributes such as:

– all natural
– 100% pure
– organic
– anti-microbial
– anti-fungal
– anti-bacterial
– for wounds, brusies, scrapes, eczema, itchy skin, and dryness

The first thing I noticed upon opening the cute little gold tin this came in was the smell. In fact, ALL of the THH products I received smell like heaven without being overpowering. Also, the texture of the salve is like butter. It was solid in the tin, but once I used my finger to take out a small amount it softened to make it very easy to apply. The label does warn that in warmer temperatures the salve may be liquid upon opening, but I have not experienced that yet.

It just so happened that I didn’t have to wait long for Ax to give me the chance to use this. Too much playing with his neighbor over the fence left Ax with a little pinch of skin missing on his muzzle, nothing crazy but still a small boo-boo on his sensitive nose. After cleaning it off and drying the area, I put a small amount of Heal Quick on the cut.

One of the things I hate about wound ointment and those sort of things is how it goops up all sticky on the area which makes it easy for dirt, shavings, hay, and other things to get stuck to it. The Heal Quick absorbed right into his skin so there was none of it rubbing off onto me as he searched my pockets for cookies, he couldn’t lick it off, and there was no leftover gunk to get covered in other gross things like most ointments!

I went back to the barn the next day and I couldn’t believe how much better it looked. It went from crusty and ouchy to clean and soft the next day. I am not kidding, it was already starting to get fuzzy already! Ax isn’t what I would call a fast healer, he is slow at just about everything that doesn’t involve food, so I was extremely happy to see that his muzzle was healing so quickly. By day four the cut was completely healed and you couldn’t even tell that it was ever there!

I even used the Heal Quick on myself when I cut my finger after catching my ring on something at the barn. It soothed the irritation immediately and reduced the redness, but the cut was healed the next day. I don’t know what kind of magic Helen puts in her products but I will absolutely be buying a larger tin of this once I run out and have already recommended it to my fellow boarders at the barn!

A huge thank you goes out to Helen and The Herbal Horse USA for sending me this product!

  1. Nice review! So what does heaven smell like? 🙂 Knight is always getting banged up in the face. He’s an angel with his neighbor when I’m around (and the other horse is probably sweeter than Knight is). I have had to ointment him every time I’m out there. 🙂

  2. Will definitely have a look at getting some of this if they ship to the UK. Got some pesky scrapes that just won’t get fuzzy!
