I’ll never get tired of seeing rare, exotic animals up close. Opinions on zoos vary greatly, but as an animal-lover, I am all for a facility that supports animal conservation. I don’t mind seeing an endangered animal in a safe location alongside efforts of restoration. Thankfully, all of the zoos we choose to visit participate in some sort of conservation effort and hold threatened, endangered, and near extinct animals in large enclosures. I know the downfalls, but I see the upsides.

My Horse Show Mom

Growing up with a mom that rode horses with me wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Me being a hunt seat princess and her a dressage queen, we would often argue over little things like why I wasn’t sitting farther back and why she would ride for so long. While we did have nice times together at the barn, a large portion of it was spent in disagreement. Now, having a mom that rides has it’s perks. I can call her and vent after a bad ride and she can call me when she needs me to come home and video the clinic she is riding in that weekend. I can yell at her for riding with her hands too low and she can yell at me for chipping a fence.Continue reading “My Horse Show Mom”

Pre-Show Pampering Must-Haves

The closer we get to show season, the harder Ax and I have been working to get ready. As expected, with longer, tougher rides comes muscle soreness, so Ax gets a bit of pampering to keep him comfortable. (Especially since he spends most of the time putting up with my inability to ride.)
