Anyone who has been to a horse show with me knows that my dad has three jobs:
- Scoop pony poops
- Do the crossword puzzle
- Eat donuts
My dad has been a Horse Show Dad for nine years and a countless number of shows. I can always count on him to be ready to go with a box of individually wrapped, old fashioned donuts and that day’s newspaper and crossword puzzle. I can count on one hand the amount of times that my horse hasn’t received a donut on a show morning and those were the few shows that my dad wasn’t there. The number of my horse shows may have gone down, but he is still the best horse show daddy around!
For the second year in a row, I am not home for Father’s Day. Instead I have to send virtual hugs to him at home and screaming “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY DADDY!” into the phone is the closest thing I get to saying it in person. Good thing I get to see him in a few days when he puts his horse show daddy skills into action and brings Ax to the island. Once a horse show dad, always a horse show dad.
Happy Father’s Day to all the horse show dads out there, especially mine.
