Officially halfway through!
Beka from The Owl Approves is hosting an 18 week blog hop, one for every week until her horse’s 18th birthday! I have made it my mission to participate in all 18 hops, so bring it on.
Week nine focuses on “Assuming that your horse has absolutely everything he needs (food, bedding, a warm stall, plenty of blankets, and a pasture mate he neither humps, maims nor gets abused by), what does your horse need to be the best version of himself?”
- Focus. If Ax took the 50% of the time that he spends being distracted by all the shiny things and the pretty birds and put it towards working on the task at hand, he would be incredible. Not that I don’t think he is now, but I think he has more potential than he can make himself pay attention to use.
- Ambition. I am not entirely positive that ambition is the exact word I am looking for. He has barely put up a fight at anything I have asked him to do, he is very driven to work, and he wants to please whoever is working with him, but he just dies out after a bit. We will be having an amazing ride and all of the sudden his motivation is out the window and he has checked out. Maybe he just gets bored or maybe he gets tired, but I feel like he could use a little bit more of a fire under his bum to motivate him to put in his all and bring it home.
- Energy. Because he is just so darn lazy some days.
Nonetheless, I love him just the way he is.

ooh i like the idea of a horse having ‘ambition’ — that would solve so many problems lol!
