Giving of Thanks

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Its the time of year when we eat so much that we think we will never fit into our breeches again, but somehow we manage to squeeze back into them the next day. Aside from stuffing our bellies, it is also the time for giving thanks for everything that we have.  I couldn’t possible list every single thing that makes me feel like the luckiest girl alive, but I can darn well try.Continue reading “Giving of Thanks”

No Stirrup November: Week Three

This year I have decided that I will be participating in the infamous No Stirrup November, but I am not dropping the irons for every ride for the entire month. Instead, I am following my own rules for the sake of my horse and myself.

Week by week, I will be documenting my adventures in NSN, feel free to join in or just follow along. Check out week one and week two!Continue reading “No Stirrup November: Week Three”

Viva Carlo‘s November Questions:

  1. Have you ever owned a horse?
    • Yup, two so far.
  2. What is your favorite aspect of your discipline?
    • I love how it all flows and how the rider can adjust the course to be technical or simple.
  3. What pet peeves do you have concerning your discipline?
    • The amount of drugging and artificial methods of making your horse “look right”.
  4. Do you do barn chores?
    • Yup. I work at a barn so it is my job, but I always clean up after myself when I am finished.
  5. What is your least favorite barn chore?
    • I am going with L on this one and say cleaning up after other people.
  6. What do you consider the worst vice in a horse?
    • A bad attitude towards work.
  7. What saddle brand is your favorite?
    • PJ or Bruno Delgrange saddles.
  8. Do you ride with a quarter sheet in the winter?
    • Always, though I usually only warm up with it. I feel like Ax’s little bum would be freezing without it and I wouldn’t want to exercise cold muscles. I have the Rambo Newmarket quartersheet in the brown stripes and I am obsessed with it, the only way it could be better is if it was monogrammed, obviously.
  9. Does your horse wear boots? What kind?
    • Ax wears Eskardon AiR open front boots or my open front Equi-fit T-Boots on his front legs and the matching Eskadron hinds.
  10. Full seat or knee patch breeches?
    • Knee patch. I never liked the feeling of being “stuck” to the saddle in fullseats.
